The event begins Saturday and continues until Feb. 23, including Bike to Work Day on Feb. 20.

The city’s transportation engineering manager, Nathalie Baudais, noted biking is good for both physical and mental health.

“Don’t limit your cycling adventures to warm weather seasons. Add winter cycling to your list of must-do winter activities like skating, sledding, skiing and snowshoeing,” Baudais said.

“It’s a convenient and low-cost form of everyday transportation that benefits Saskatoon by decreasing traffic congestion, noise and air pollution.”

Bike routes, tips and guides are available on the city’s website.

Commuter stations from local businesses and organizations will be set up across the city, handing out snacks for people biking during their morning and afternoon commute. A full list of stations can be found on the Saskatoon Cycles web page.

The city noted that all city buses are equipped with front bike racks, and that people should consider taking Saskatoon Transit if they live too far away to bike to work.

The events start Saturday with a “slow roll,” where riders will gather near the River Landing fire vessel at 2 p.m. and bike along the Meewasin Trail.
