Did you hear about Chris Evans making an appearance in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as Captain America once again? Well, you won’t be able to see it because the cameo doesn’t exist? Sorry, fans you’ve been led astray by the online chatter. Chris Evans himself confirmed to Esquire, “That’s not true.”

The Hollywood actor said that rumours of his comeback surface quite often, “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple of years — ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it,” He repeated, “Yeah, no happily retired.”

It wasn’t only him but Anthony Mackie who will face a ‘Brave New World’ as Marvel’s new Captain America also doubled down on Evans’ claim. “I talked to Chris a few weeks ago and it wasn’t on the table then,” he said. “At least, he didn’t tell me it was on the table, because I asked him. I was like, ‘You know, they said they’re bringing everyone back for the movie. Are you coming back?’ He goes, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired.’”

Chris Evans last played Steve Rogers aka Captain America in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Rogers bequeathed his signature vibranium shield to Mackie’s character Sam Wilson in that film. But he is officially knighted Sam as the new Cap in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Now, his story will continue in Captain America: Brave New World, set to release in February.
