A Chinese blogger has claimed that ‘My Dearest Nemesis’ actor Choi Hyun-wook was involved in Kim Sae-ron’s DUI incident.

Kim Sae-ron began acting at the mere age of nine and was later branded as South Korea’s most promising young star for her work in the 2009 film ‘A Brand New Day’, which also premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. At 10, she featured in ‘The Man From Nowhere’, which became South Korea’s highest-grossing movie of 2010.

Her popularity was subsequently cemented by her roles in A Girl at My Door, The Queen’s Classroom, and Hi! School: On Love, including other projects. However, her career and personal life took a major setback in May 2022. Kim Sae-ron was caught driving under the influence, in an accident, which resulted in property damage and a power outage in Gangnam, Seoul. She was subsequently fined KRW 20 million (50,966 AED).

Following the incident, she took a hiatus from acting to reflect and address health concerns. She made her comeback in the 2023 Netflix series ‘Bloodhounds’ but most of her role was edited out. Now, a Chinese blogger has claimed that Choi Hyun-wook allegedly accompanied Sae-ron during the DUI but their company Gold Medalist hid the information by referring to him as “the man sitting next to her.”

It is important to note that the rumours haven’t been officially confirmed. Many also took Hyun-wook’s absence at Sae-ron’s funeral as a hint that he was really the man sitting next to her in the car. However, the speculation was squashed when it was clarified Hyun-wook was in fact present at the funeral.

Kim Sae-ron, 24, was found dead in her home at Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16. No signs of foul play were discovered and the officials ruled it as suicide.
