The newest feature for WhatsApp Channels is currently in beta testing, enabling users to swiftly share, view, and follow Channels through a quick response (QR) code within the application. This functionality is available for testing on the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for both iOS and Android, with a broader rollout anticipated in the future.

The QR code sharing capability was identified by the feature tracker WABetaInfo in the most recent updates of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.

Beta testers who have upgraded to WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.25.7 or WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.24.10.76 may have the opportunity to experience this new feature. As reported by the feature tracker, users with the feature activated on WhatsApp—who must be using the latest beta version of the app and manage an existing WhatsApp Channel—can access their Channel information panel and select sharing options, where they will find the option to create a QR code.

Once the app generates the QR code, users can share it with others on WhatsApp or through different messaging applications. The QR code is provided as an image, allowing it to be sent via third-party applications, emailed, or printed.

This feature could prove beneficial for businesses seeking to provide customers with a straightforward method to follow their channel. It remains uncertain when WhatsApp will introduce the QR code sharing feature to users on the stable update channel.

The company is also testing additional enhancements to the app, including the ability to share complete sticker packs, a ‘Search on the web’ image lookup feature, and cross-device contact management. These features are expected to be made available to users following adequate testing as part of the beta program.
