‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is now playing in the theatres, leaving many to wonder if this is really the final movie where Eddie and Venom go berserk on screen. To fans’ disappointment, Tom Hardy, the main lead of the Venom franchise, has been repeatedly consistent with his decision of never returning as the symbiote anti-villain.
During his appearance at the New York Comic Con, Tom Hardy reflected on his seven-year stint as Eddie Brock, a journalist sharing his body with symbiote alien Venom, labeling it one of his best experiences ever. But with the reflection also came the confirmation that this was the end for them. “It’s time to go to sleep,” said Hardy.
In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Venom 3 director Kelly Marcel spoke about the possibility of a Venom 4 movie. “You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know. Yes, it is the end of a contract. We were asked to do three, we’ve delivered three, and who knows what the future holds. I hope that we’ve laid groundwork for them in this third movie with other characters and other symbiotes and bad guys that they can run with, should they choose. But this is the last one for Venom and Eddie,” she explained.
So, is this really ‘The Last Dance?’ At least, it appears so on paper for now. But with the ever-changing and ever-evolving superhero universe, one can never be sure there’s zero possibility of their return.
