Elaborate arrangements have been made for the ‘Haindava Shankaravam’, which is being organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) at Kesarapalli in Krishna district on January 5.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP-Eluru Range) G.V.G. Ashok Kumar and Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar Rao on Saturday (January 4)reviewed the security arrangements for the meeting.
About 3,000 police officers, including three SPs, additional SPs, deputy SPs, and personnel from Andhra Pradesh Special Police and other wings, have been deployed for bandobust, Mr. Gangadhar said.
VHP president Alok Kumar, organising secretary Milind Parande and Ayodhya Ram Mandir trustee Govind Dev Giriji Maharaj are likely to attend the meeting.
“The meeting is scheduled from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Transport and heavy vehicles will be diverted from Saturday midnight to avoid traffic congestions,” Mr. Ashok Kumar told The Hindu.
Traffic diversions
Eluru SP K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said traffic on Visakhapatnam-Chennai-Visakhapatnam has been diverted via Kakinada, Kathipudi Centre, Yanam, Amalapuram, Razole, Narsapuram, Machilipatnam, Repalle, Bapatla and Ongole in both the directions.
Transport vehicles coming from Chennai to Visakhapatnam have been diverted towards Budampadu cross road, Tenali, Puligadda, Machilipatnam, Narsapuram, Amalapuram, Kakinada and Kathipudi.
Traffic moving towards Hyderabad from Visakhapatnam will proceed towards, Diwan Cheruvu Bypass road, Gammon bridge, Devarapalli, Gopalapuram, Jangareddygudem, Aswaraopeta, Sathupalli, Khammam and Suryapet.
Heavy vehicles coming from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad should proceed via Bhimadole, Dwaraka Tirumala, Kamavarapukota, Chintalapudi and Aswaraopet. Traffic to Hyderabad will also be diverted towards Eluru Bypass, Jangareddygudem, Aswaraopet, Khammam.
Vehicles going to Hyderabad from Tanuku should proceed towards Hanuman Junction, Nuzvid, Mylavaram, Ibrahimpatnam and Nandigama.
Traffic proceeding towards Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad will be diverted via Nandigama, Madhira, Sathupalli, Aswaraopeta, Jangareddygudem, Devarapalli and Gammon bridge.
Some vehicles should travel via Ibrahimpatnam, Mylavaram, Nuzvid, Hanuman Junction, Eluru, Ramavarappadu Ring Road, Nunna, Pamula Kaluva, Velagaleru, G. Konduru, Mylavaram, Nuzvid, Hanuman Junction and Eluru, said Mr. Gangadhar Rao.
Passengers travelling towards Vijayawada Airport should travel via Ramavarappadu flyover, Mustabad, Surampalli underpass, new bypass road, B.B. Gudem underpass and Gannavaram Chaitanya School.
APSRTC buses, cars and other public transport will be allowed on regular routes. All measures are being taken to avoid inconvenience to the public, Mr. Ashok Kumar added.
