There has been quite a social media frenzy surrounding ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ Were you under the impression that you might see some superhero cameos in the highly-anticipated MCU film? Well, we hate to tell you that you won’t. Why? Because they don’t exist. ‘The Fastastic Four: First Steps’ director Matt Shakman officially confirmed the development in an interview with Empire Online.
“We are our own universe,” said the director adding, “Which is wonderful and liberating. There’s really no [other] superheroes. There’s no Easter eggs. There’s no running into Iron Man or whatever. They’re it, in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different. Eventually, this world will meet up with other worlds — but for now this is our own little corner.”
Notably, ‘The Fantastic Four’ world will meet the other worlds in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ At the San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Robert Downey Jr confirmed his return to the MCU but not as Iron Man. He was introduced as the main antagonist, Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom, who will fight the assembly of A-list Marvel talents in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ Now, during a recent livestream, Marvel officially confirmed the cast of ‘Doomsday’ and ‘The Fantastic Four’ were a part of it.
Further details regarding the plot remain scarce at the moment but the superhero quartet to feature in the Marvel film have already got new faces. Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, and she is pregnant, Joseph Quinn takes on the role of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards, the popular Mr. Fantastic, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach essays Ben Grimm. Additionally, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Ralph Ineson, will also be seen playing key characters.
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is scheduled to be released in the UAE on July 25, 2025.
