K-pop idol T.O.P made his much-awaited comeback in the Korean entertainment circle with ‘Squid Game’ season 2. For those unaware, T.O.P (birth name Choi Seung-hyun) who garnered a hit reputation being a part of the K-pop BIGBANG, was given a 10-month jail sentence and a two-year suspension from his mandatory military service in July 2017, after he was found guilty of using marijuana, an illegal substance in South Korea.

Following the scandal, the rapper and actor was blacklisted from the Korean entertainment industry until his most recent appearance in Squid Game season 2 as Thanos, a famous rapper turned erratic Player 230 who uses drugs while competing in the deadly games. There have been rumours swirling on social media about T.O.P rejoining BIGBANG but the 37-year-old artist has set the record straight in an interview with Sports Kyunhang.

T.O.P feels remorse for his actions, “I caused great harm to both BIGBANG and my former company due to past mistakes. Now, I have to move forward on my own, and I believe I must endure the criticism that comes with it. If I were to return to the team that I caused harm to, the team/members would also be labeled for the past mistakes that I made, and I wouldn’t be able to face them. The suffering within me is so great that I’ve been saying for a long time that I want to leave.”

While addressing the reunion rumours, T.OP added, “I wanted to clear things up, but there was no way for me to do that.”

‘Squid Game’ season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
