It’s heartening to see Sporting Christmas donations flowing in. We assist the Salvation Army with its Christmas hamper program by raising much-needed funding, and the people whose donations are listed below are among those who have stepped up to help.

Heath Muggli, who made every room he was in a better place to be, is remembered through a couple of donations today.

“In loving memory of Heath ‘Mulligan’ Muggli as we head into our first Christmas without him,” writes an anonymous donor. “If you knew him, please raise a glass, crack some kind of joke and be kind to a stranger whenever you can.”

Ken Wasden remembers a man who was both a good friend and a good sport.

“My donation today is made in memory and as a tribute to my good friend, Clayton Wall,” Ken writes. “‘Sammy’ was an assistant coach with the Saskatoon Harmony Centre ladies fastball team back in the 80s. His sense of humor and good heart will be missed!”

Donna Wist donates in memory of her husband, Bill Wist.

“It is our 18th Christmas without him,” Donna tells us, “but all those we love deeply become part of who we are. I hope this donation helps bring a smile this Christmas to all those in need.”

Anne Ballantyne says her family has a long-ago connection with the good work done by the Salvation Army.

“Our family has always supported sport in Saskatoon. We still have grandsons playing minor hockey,” Anne writes. “Salvation Army is special as they helped my husband’s Dad emigrate from Scotland in the late 1920s.”

Write Don and Sharon Gordon: “Sporting Christmas continues to be our favourite charity. This year our donation is in memory of our dear friend, Jane Dybvig, a true sports fan! We miss her!”

You can also drop your donation off at the Salvation Army (38 Bateman Crescent). Please make sure to mark it as a Sporting Christmas donation.
