Shah Rukh Khan, who hosted this year’s IIFA Awards, was awarded the Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Jawan‘. During his acceptance speech, SRK recalled the ‘tough time’ he went through while making the film, referring to his son Aryan Khan’s arrest in a drug case. The star kid, who is set to make his directorial debut with ‘Stardom‘, was given a clean chit later.

The actor started his speech by thanking all the fellow nominees – Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, and Vicky Kaushal. He added, “I think all of them were great, but I got an edge because people were happy that I worked after so long. Somebody reminded me that money needs to be out into a film.”

He further thanked his wife Gauri Khan, joking that she is the one investing money in his acting career as a producer. He went on to add, “We were going through a tough time while making Jawan.”

SRK and Gauri’s son Aryan was arrested in 2021 after a raid on the Cordelia cruise in Mumbai. He was in jail for twenty days. In May 2022, Aryan was given a clean chit.

As a host, SRK spoke on many topics at the IIFA event. The King of Bollywood asked director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to bring him a film like ‘Pushpa: The Rise‘. The South film which was released in 2020 was a massive hit. Now, it’s sequel ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule‘ starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, will be released in December 2024. On the other hand, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s last directorial film was Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal‘ (2023).

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘King‘, co-starring his daughter Suhana Khan. The father-daughter duo will start shooting for the film in January 2025. The makers are yet to officially announce the upcoming film.
