Saskatoon schools declare ‘snow day,’ cancel Monday classes

After a weekend of extreme snowfall, all Saskatoon Public and Catholic Schools will be closed and classes will be cancelled on Monday, November 25.

On Sunday afternoon, both school divisions said they had spoken with the City of Saskatoon and come to the the decision “to ensure the safety of all our students and staff members” while “potentially unsafe road conditions exist.”

City crews will also be able to clear the roads more quickly, since they won’t have to work around school busses or busy traffic around pick-up and drop-off zones.

“Teachers will not be connecting with students on Monday; however, we anticipate school to resume on Tuesday,” said Saskatoon Public Schools.

“Please stay safe and take extra care if moving around the city.”

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools in Warman, Martensville, Humboldt and Biggar have also cancelled Monday classes.

Both school divisions said students and parents should check back in on Monday for updates.
