Saskatoon police arrest four after armed home invasion

Four people have been charged after an early-morning break-in that left one person injured.

City police say they were called around 1:45 a.m. on Friday to the 300 block of Avenue R South, across the street from St. Paul’s Hospital, for a break-in in progress and possible gunshots in the area.

Four people had broken into a home and assaulted one of the occupants before driving away in a black truck, police said in a news release. The victim, whose injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening, left the home and went to the nearby hospital before officers arrived.

Police searched the area and stopped a black truck that matched the description of the one the suspects had been driving.

“As a result of further investigation, the four occupants of the truck were arrested without incident and a search of the vehicle found various bladed weapons and an imitation firearm believed to have been used in the break and enter,” the release said.

Two men, ages 31 and 23, and two boys, ages 15 and 17, are charged with aggravated assault and “a combination of weapons-related charges,” police said. The 17-year-old was also found to be in violation of court-ordered conditions.
