Mounties were called and “immediately began working to locate the bus and ensure the safety of the children inside,” the release added.
When officers found the bus “a short time later,” all of the children had already been dropped off along the bus route.
The driver was still showing signs of intoxication and was arrested, the release said.
The 45-year-old man’s drivers licence was suspended, and he faces multiple impaired driving charges.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Dillon on Dec. 18.
