Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave away their titles and stepped down as working members of the British royal family in 2020. Ever since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have relocated to Meghan Markle’s home country California, USA. Though Prince Harry has returned to the UK multiple times including his visit for King Charles’ coronation, Invictus Games, and most recently to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards ceremony. The Duchess of Sussex has limited her visits with her last appearance in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Meghan Markle has publicly spoken about not being able to defend herself in the British homeland against media intrusion and security concern appears to be her major reason behind hesitating to visit the country. Now, this reluctance of Meghan has reportedly caused a small rift between her and Prince Harry.
The married duo have received an invitation to celebrate Christmas with Charles Spencer at Althorp, as per Express UK. While Prince Harry is keen about spending the festive season with his children and wife in his homeland, Meghan doesn’t seem to be onboard with the idea.
An insider told the portal, “Harry is keen for the Sussexes to spend time in the UK this Christmas with family. However, there are still concerns lingering over their security. Meghan has always shown a reluctance to travel to the United Kingdom and finds it quite a challenge with all that’s been going on.”
The report comes over a week after Harry did not visit his father and brother despite being in the UK amid tense relations thawing between the royal members. Harry’s UK itinerary didn’t include spending time with King Charles and Prince William as reports also indicate his calls, letters, and messages go unanswered and ignored by both.
