Police hunt for seventh suspect in murder of missing Windsor man

Windsor police have named a seventh suspect in the murder of Windsor’s Dalton Bartnik, who disappeared eight months ago.

Investigators announced Tuesday that Samantha Lynn Sweetman, 30, is wanted for first-degree murder.  

“New evidence recently uncovered by officers now points to Sweetman as a co-conspirator in the killing,” police said in a media release.

Dalton Robert Bartnik, 27, was last seen on the evening of March 31, 2024. His body was never found, but police said a probe by their Major Crimes Unit led to the conclusion that Bartnik was murdered on or around April 1.  

Police previously said they began investigating in May after receiving a missing person report. Investigators have not revealed why the believe the missing man is dead. 

In July 2024, investigators arrested and charged six people for Bartnik’s murder.  

Police said Sweetman is a white woman, 5’7” tall, and about 170 pounds. She has blue eyes and long brown or possibly blonde hair.
