Ontario Premier Doug Ford to speak in Toronto

Premier Doug Ford is set to speak in Toronto on Tuesday morning, after addressing early Ontario election rumours a day earlier.
Ford will be joined by Todd McCarthy, minister of public and business service delivery and procurement, at the 9 a.m. event.
On Monday, Ford was asked about the speculation surrounding an early election call and said that if incoming U.S. president Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs take effect, and Ontario needs cash to stimulate the economy, he would “let the people decide.”
“I think, if it comes to it, and we have to spend tens of billions of dollars, we go to the people,” he said at an unrelated news conference.
The next scheduled Ontario election is set for June 2026 and Ford, so far, has not committed to that timeline.
CTV News Toronto will stream the announcement live online and on the CTV News app.
