A worrying pattern has currently gripped the manga world after Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter was published on September 29. The fan-favorite lore by Gege Akutami concluded with many inconsistencies, without wrapping up loose ends, and failing to meet fan expectations. Well, this wasn’t the first time when readers complained of an emerging pattern of trashy endings given to their favourite stories.

The likes of Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia have fallen victim to criticism before for delivering awful conclusions. However, the problematic issue has nothing over One Piece fans, who continue to remain unfazed, and trust in Eiichiro Oda for delivering a glorious ending to the exploits of Monkey D Luffy and his Straw Hat pirates crew.

The heated discussion began online after an X user warned One Piece fans of the emerging pattern for trashy endings. “First it was Attack on Titan, then Jujutsu Kaisen. One Piece fans have no idea what’s coming to them,” the user wrote.

It didn’t take long for Eiichiro Oda’s loyal supporters to step up and defend the author who has been creating the manga since 1997. Fans called it foolish to compare Oda’s work with Gege Akutami and Hajime Isayama.

One wrote, “Comparing those to One Piece is crazy not going to lie. Oda has planned the finale for 25 years.”

Another agreed, “We trust in Oda. AOT and JJK fans insulted Isayama and Gege everyday.”

A user with a practical approach on the comparison highlighted, “No matter what the ending, there will be people who hate it. The only difference is that they will hate it because the hype was too high or because of forced theories or agendas. It will never be like what JJK and MHA had. We trust in Oda, he’s been satisfying us for years.”

A reader explained the only way Oda could fumble One Piece’s ending was to show that the mythical treasure was unreal or Luffy doesn’t become the King of the Pirates.

One more agreed, “When One Piece ends and Oda absolutely nails the ending, it’s gonna be a glorious day. It won’t please everyone. That’s impossible for a story with so many readers but Oda isn’t fumbling like Gege.”
