Additionally, Meta is in the process of testing a feature that will automatically generate images and suggest them for sharing on users’ feeds. In a recent newsroom announcement, the company provided insights into the operation of this feature.
Currently, users can utilize Meta AI to create images from text prompts, and they can also submit an image as input for the AI to generate new images.
However, the previous restriction preventing users from using their profile pictures for image generation is being lifted. At Meta Connect 2024, the company confirmed that the ‘Imagine’ feature will be accessible to all Facebook and Instagram users, allowing them to create both posts and Stories.
Users can now request Meta AI to envision them as a superhero, a royal figure, or an astronaut, and the AI will fulfill these requests. According to the images provided by the company, it seems that the AI-generated visuals will not be highly realistic, but rather will have a digitally crafted appearance.
Additionally, Meta will be incorporating AI-generated watermarks on these images. In Instagram Direct Messages and Messenger, users will now have the capability to utilize AI for creating personalized chat themes. Previously, users could modify the background color and chat bubble, but this new feature will provide a greater degree of customization.
Furthermore, Meta is currently evaluating a recommendation feature that incorporates the Imagine functionality. The organization intends to display AI-generated images of the user’s profile picture within the feeds of Instagram and Facebook.
We put a very (very!) fun thing in Meta AI today.
Say “imagine me…” to see yourself anywhere your heart desires. If you’re weird like me, you might imagine yourself with a magical emu.

These images will be tailored according to the user’s interests or prevailing trends. Should the user find the image appealing, they have the option to share it on their feed or in their Stories. Additionally, users can click on the image to modify the suggested visual.
