MediaTek asserts that the Dimensity 9400 offers a 35 percent increase in single-core performance compared to its predecessor. This new SoC is positioned to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A18 series chipsets.

The Dimensity 9400 is a fourth-generation flagship processor designed using Arm’s v9.2 CPU architecture, along with dedicated GPU and neural processing unit (NPU) architectures.

It is manufactured using TSMC’s advanced second-generation 3nm fabrication process. In line with the established big core design, it comprises one Cortex-X925 core with a peak clock speed of 3.62GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores.

MediaTek claims that this CPU architecture delivers 35 percent enhanced single-core performance and 28 percent improved multi-core performance relative to the Dimensity 9300 SoC, while also achieving 40 percent greater power efficiency.

Furthermore, the Dimensity 9400 integrates MediaTek’s eighth-generation NPU, which supports on-device LoRA training, on-device video generation, and developer tools for Agentic artificial intelligence (AI).

The company has stated that this SoC can achieve up to 80 percent faster performance for large language model (LLM) prompts while maintaining 35 percent better power efficiency than its predecessor.

Regarding the GPU, the mobile platform features the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925, which is reported to deliver 40 percent faster ray tracing performance compared to its predecessor, along with a 41 percent improvement in peak performance and a 44 percent reduction in power consumption.
