Following a series of major attacks on Hezbollah in September and the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, Israel began its invasion of Southern Lebanon on October 1. The aerial strikes and destruction was in line with the escalation of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, a resultant of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

As the humanitarian crisis gripping the Middle East continues, Hollywood actor Javier Bardem broke his silence on Israel’s dehumanising move, condemning the country for committing a heinous crime against mankind. In a footage shared on his Instagram, Bardem said, “Obviously, talking about this takes me directly to Gaza. What’s happening in Gaza is completely unacceptable, it’s terrible, it’s dehumanising.”

He added, “I believe that the Israeli government is the most radical government in Israel’s history, that it’s committing crimes against humanity, that it’s committing crimes against international laws, investigated by the International Criminal Court, that obviously, the atrocious, terrible and condemnable brutal attacks by Hamas on October 1 do not justify the massive punishment that the Palestinian population is enduring.”

Marvel star Mark Ruffalo reshared Bardem’s speech on X and praised his courage to speak about the ongoing atrocities. “Thank you Javier Bardem for your decency, your courage, and love for all human beings. You are a beacon of light, amigo,” he wrote.

Javier Bardem highlights we cannot remain indifferent to what’s happening in Gaza.
