The specific reseller involved in this transaction remains unidentified, but it provided a Cash On Delivery (COD) payment option.

As reported by The Independent, the suspect, known only as Gajanan, along with an accomplice named Akash, placed an order for an iPhone valued at approximately $1,800.

The delivery agent, Bharat Sahu, subsequently arrived at Gajanan’s home in Chinhat, Lucknow, located in northern India.

“On September 23, delivery personnel Bharat Sahu from Nishatganj arrived to deliver the phone, where he was murdered by Gajanan and his accomplice,” stated senior police official Shashank Singh during a press briefing. “After strangling Sahu, they concealed his body in a sack and disposed of it in the Indira Canal.”

The family of 30-year-old Sahu reported him missing after a period of two days, and his body has yet to be discovered.

During their investigation, police uncovered Gajanan’s phone number while examining Sahu’s call logs. This discovery subsequently led them to Akash, who allegedly confessed during questioning.

Akash reportedly acknowledged his involvement in the murder but refrained from providing a motive. As a result, it remains uncertain whether the two individuals intended to sell the iPhone or if they both planned to keep it for personal use.

The specific model of the iPhone is not confirmed; however, based on the reported price, it is presumed to be an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

In a related note, Gajanan’s hometown of Lucknow was the site of an incident in 2018, where an Apple sales manager was shot and killed by police.
