Investigation into a fatal accident took an unexpected turn when a road accident victim in Shamshabad turned out to be a vehicle-lifter who stole a bike from Industrial Development Area (IDA), Bollaram.

The deceased was identified as Narsimha, 24, a labourer.

According to Shamshabad police, Narsimha succumbed to injuries late on December 31. His friend, Srinivas, 34, who was riding pillion, also sustained injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment in Osmania General Hospital.

“They did not have any mobile numbers, so we started the investigation based on the vehicle they were riding. When we called the vehicle owner, he informed us that his bike was stolen and he had lodged a complaint in Bollaram,” said Shamshabad Inspector K. Narender Reddy.

Narsimha and Srinivas were friends and worked in Gachibowli Labour Adda. The two were travelling to their native place Wanaparthy on the bike when their speeding vehicle collided with a lorry parked on the roadside.
