Simo, a retail business owner and contractor, and Hajar, a fashionista, were arguably the most controversial couples on ‘Love is Blind, Habibi’. It was difference in opinions that thawed arguments and discontent between the two. While Simo was a traditional Arab man, Hajar’s perspective was more modern and the duo couldn’t meet in the middle.
At one point, the discontent grew so much that Simo exited the Netflix dating show without even informing Hajar.
Here’s everything that went wrong between Hajar and Simo:
Hajar first found herself on the wrong side after making a tasteless joke during the pod segment. She was talking about planning a bachelorette party insinuating they both try something wild like having a “cake before going on a diet.” The idea was quickly shut down by Simo, he began schooling Hajar, imparting respect lessons, and the mood of their date was completely ruined.
Hajar realized her joke wasn’t well-received for which she also sought apology, “Sorry for choosing something low to say… I really want you to be in a good mood. Sorry, sorry, sorry. It’s not gonna happen again.” By the end of the date, they decided to bury the hatchet and eventually got engaged, thereby moving to the holiday segment of the social experiment.
They argued again during a restaurant date when Hajar behaved rudely with a waitress and Simo called her out immediately. But the deal breaker was when Simo fought with Chafic, another male suitor, at a group get-together. The two had to be separated for their heated verbal discussion to not turn physical. However, Hajar didn’t react to the fight nor did she make any attempt to intervene or stop Simo.
He felt let down by his partner and dropped out of the experiment without consulting, meeting, or informing Hajar. “I had a problem yesterday. She didn’t support me. If a woman is not standing with me, no,” Simo said in a confessional before exiting.
