Dounia and Chafic, the youngest couple on ‘Love is Blind, Habibi’ created quite a buzz for their adorable bond, despite facing differences in opinion. They had their fair share of ups and downs including a jealousy conflict and arguments on lifestyle issues but they always managed to find their way back to each other. However, on the wedding day the couple mutually decided they didn’t want to be legally married yet.
Dounia and Chafic needed more time to work on their relationship before taking the massive step. And here’s what went wrong between the two:
The Jealousy conflict
This particular issue stemmed after it was revealed Chafic knew Nour, a model and another contestant on the show from before. She didn’t appreciate Chafic and Nour interacting with each other, in one moment from a get-together, the trio was seen sitting together with an awkward silence engulfing them.
Later, Chafic also got embroiled into a heated argument with another male suitor Simo for bringing up his and Nour’s past Instagram exchange in a conversation with Dounia. Both Chafic and Simo had to be forcefully separated for their verbal fight to not turn violent. After watching Chafic lose his temper, the conflict became more than jealousy with Dounia doubting her decision to be engaged with him.
The lifestyle issue
While meeting each other’s parents was a smooth affair, a dispute arose between the two after Dounia visited Chafic’s house. His bachelor lifestyle raised alarms causing a small tiff and adding up to the situation was Dounia’s family background. During a date, she broke down recalling how she was brought up by her mother alone and has a “broken shoulder” which is supposed to be her dad.
Chafic took objection with Dounia’s including her mother in their relationship matters. “When something goes on between us, something wrong between me and you, it’s between me and you. You cannot involve your mom. There is something between you and your mom you have to cut,” he said. In a confessional, Chafic also admitted he couldn’t see Dounia crying, “I wanted to take her in my arms, but at this time I couldn’t. Like my heart was telling me ‘go,’ while my head’s telling me ‘don’t.’”
Despite facing multiple problems, they salvaged their bond until the end. But before appearing on the wedding aisle, the couple had mutually decided to not be legally married on a phone call. During their final moments, they had a heart-to-heart, where the couple agreed to continue dating outside the show and work to resolve their disputes.
