LaSalle welcomes five new police officers

Five new police officers were presented with their badges Jan. 20 during the LaSalle Police Services Board’s first meeting of the year.
Christopher Bedard, Brayden Houle, Carter Ducharme, Dallas Atkins and James Legaspi were formally appointed to police officers during a ceremony attended by an overflow crowd of family and friends in council chambers at the town’s civic centre.

Chief Michael Pearce and Deputy Chief Jason Woods welcomed the five new officers, presenting them with their badges.
Constables Bedard, Houle, Ducharme and Akins joined the force Dec. 17, 2024, while Legaspi arrived Jan. 13.
Bedard, Houle, Ducharme and Akins started their careers with the service as cadets on Sept. 3, 2024, attending basic constable recruit training at the Ontario Police College in Alymer, Ont., and graduating Dec. 13.
Const. Legaspi brings nine years of policing experience in the Province of Ontario.
LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche was re-elected chairwoman of the board. Coun. Anita Riccio-Spagnuolo was re-elected vice-chairwoman.
The board, which meets on the third Monday of each month at the town’s civic centre, with the exception of July and August, also includes members Daniel Allen, Morris Brause and Marie Campagna.
