Kerala man gets 20-year RI in rape case

A fast-track special court at Mattanur has sentenced a 65-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a 2018 rape case. He was also slapped with a fine of ₹1.25 lakh.

The verdict was delivered by judge Anit Joseph. The convict, K.K Sadanandan, son of Kunhikannan hailing from Iriveri, was booked under Sections 450, 354(B), and 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The court also ordered that the ₹1 lakh collected as fine should be handed over to the victim as compensation.

Sadanandan is also involved in other cases, including a POCSO case, and is currently serving jail sentence.
