Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Kerala Amir P. Mujeeb Rahman has asked Muslim women to resist “Western neo-liberal culture” and “counter Islamophobia”. He was delivering a speech after opening ‘Profisia’, a Muslim women’s professional summit, here on Sunday (January 12). It was organised by the Kerala chapter of the Jamaat-e-Islami women’s wing.

Mr. Rahman said that compared with other States, there had been a commendable growth in the presence of Muslim women in Kerala’s public spaces in the past 15 years after the release of the Rajinder Sachar committee report that studied the social, economic, and educational conditions of Muslims in India. “At a time when Islamophobia is being propagated, Muslim women should interact with society more extensively. They should showcase the beauty of true Islam while resisting Western neo-liberal culture,” he added.
