The social media powerhouse appears to be developing a functionality that would allow users to post Instagram Reels directly to Threads. This new capability may be part of Meta’s strategy to facilitate cross-posting, thereby enhancing content sharing across its range of applications.

Renowned developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) has reported that Threads is currently testing a feature that enables users to share Instagram Reels and posts directly on Threads. According to a screenshot shared by Paluzzi, the drop-down menu on Threads now includes a new Instagram option alongside the existing GIF, Voice, and Poll features.

The new Instagram button located in the compose box of Threads allows users to access a grid showcasing Instagram posts and Reels. Users can select the specific Reels and posts they wish to share on Threads. Meta has reportedly confirmed to TechCrunch that this feature is currently undergoing testing.

Presently, numerous users share their Instagram content on Threads to enhance engagement and expand their follower base. The introduction of this new button is anticipated to further increase user engagement and improve content visibility. It is important to note that Meta has been actively encouraging cross-posting from Facebook and Instagram to Threads since the previous year.

Additionally, it automatically displays posts from Threads on Instagram and Facebook, and is testing a feature that enables users to cross-post images from Instagram to Threads.

Meta has been introducing new functionalities to its rapidly expanding Threads platform. Recently, the company was observed experimenting with a temporary post feature, enabling users to create posts that vanish after a specified duration.
