Honda has intensified its efforts in preparing for the launch of its next-generation 0 Series electric vehicles (EVs) by unveiling fully developed prototypes of its uniquely designed Saloon and SUV models. The 0 Saloon and 0 SUV represent the initial offerings in a planned lineup of seven EVs, all built on a completely new platform. Both vehicles are set to debut in North America next year, with subsequent releases anticipated in other regions, including Europe.

Last year, Honda showcased a concept version of the 0 Saloon at the CES 2025 technology exhibition. This year, the company returned to the Las Vegas event to present a prototype of the saloon, which closely adheres to the original concept in terms of both exterior and interior design, alongside the prototype of the SUV.
The new 0 SUV is said to be inspired by the Space Hub concept introduced at CES last year, although it exhibits significantly different proportions compared to that earlier boxy design. Honda categorizes it as a “mid-size” SUV. It appears to be marginally shorter than the saloon and features a more upright and defined windscreen at the front, while being engineered to optimize interior space, showcasing a rear section reminiscent of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with a squared-off tail.
While Honda has not yet disclosed specific technical specifications for either vehicle, it has previously shared crucial information with Autocar regarding the platform and the company’s forthcoming EV technology. The guiding design principle for the 0 Series EV platform is encapsulated in the phrase “thin, light and wise.” This approach emphasizes the development of lighter battery packs that are approximately 8mm thinner than those utilized by competitors, allowing for lower mounting within the platform.
Honda asserts that this design will enhance sporty handling and improve the interior layout of the vehicles. Consequently, the Saloon can be positioned lower than some competitors, featuring more sculpted bodywork that contributes to its overall efficiency. All models in the 0 Series will be available with both single- and dual-motor powertrains, utilizing new compact e-axle motors designed for lower placement within the vehicle.
