The Chamarajapet police have registered a case against the president of a local mosque and three others for allegedly storming into the police station along with a group of 40 people and manhandling the staff on Tuesday.
Based on the complaint filed by Anil Kumar, PSI, a case of assault or use of criminal force against a public servant and unlawful assembly has been registered against Mahboob Khan and three others.
The accused had a dispute with another group over a trivial row and the parties had filed a complaint and counter complaint. Later, the accused, along with a group of 40 people, allegedly gathered at the station and created a ruckus demanding the arrest of those who he said tried to attack him.
The police at the station tried to reason with him, but the group allegedly manhandled the staff and created a ruckus.
The police used additional force to contain the situation and detained a group for questioning for further investigation.
Mahboob Khan had complained earlier that a group of three men tried to kill him and his friends while he was in a car near the Mysuru Road flyover on Tuesday. He further said that he saw three men dump cement blocks from the flyover on his car and escape. Due to the attack, the car was damaged, and he, along with three of his friends, escaped unhurt.
In his complaint, Mahboob Khan said that he saw the attacker and later filed a complaint with the police to take action and arrest the attackers immediately.
