1 — Laugh with the Soaps
The Saskatoon Soaps Improv Comedy presents Take That Back, an exploration of unwanted gifts, unexpected guests and New Year’s Eve party consequences. The evening of live improvised comedy based on audience suggestions is Friday at the Broadway Theatre at 8 p.m. Learn more at broadwaytheatre.ca.

2 — Sip and skate by the river
The Meewasin Valley Authority hosts another event in the fourth annual Sip and Skate. Enjoy an exclusive small-group skate under the stars and learn about the MVA’s river valley conservation. Finishing with a Fireside S’mores Box and a warm beverage in a Meewasin take-home mug, the 19+ event is held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cameco Meewasin Skating Rink at Nutrien Plaza. 3 — Learn to make a ribbon skirt
Wanuskewin Heritage Park hosts a two-day ribbon skirt workshop. Indigenous artist Kari Konchinew shares some teachings that belong to the ribbon skirt and guides participants to create their own. Learn some history and stories behind the skirts, get oriented with a sewing machine and get the skirt to fit just right. The workshop is Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park. This workshop is for all levels, limited to ages 15 and older. Materials are provided, and personal pieces are welcome. Learn more at wanuskewin.com.
4 — Celebrate the city’s heritage

The 37th annual Heritage Festival of Saskatoon is a free, four-day event celebrating the city’s rich civic, natural, cultural and artistic heritage. It kicks off with a Festival Day celebration on Sunday at the Western Development Museum from noon to 5 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of live music and entertainment, heritage exhibits, kids’ activities, Speaker Series presentations and cultural dance. At McNally Robinson on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., the Speaker Series concludes with a conversation about discovering our heritage with Michif artist Marcel Petit and guest host Theresa Sokyrka. 5 — Enjoy a dark comedy
As part of its Beyond the Fringe season, 25th Street Theatre presents Mustard by Kat Sandler. A darkly comedic, twisted fairy tale about love, the play follows 16-year-old Thai as she navigates her parents’ divorce. While Thai is lashing out at school, her imaginary friend Mustard is refusing to leave, having fallen in love with her mom. The play runs until Feb. 8 at Persephone Theatre’s BackStage Stage.
