On the boys’ side, Esterhazy’s Weiss took on Moose Jaw’s Dayne Heisler in the final, winning 6-4.

Weiss got out to an early 3-0 lead after the first end, and as the game continued, Heisler managed to tie the game at four after picking up two points in the fifth end.

The sixth and seventh ends were blanks, but Weiss scored a pair in the eighth and final end to capture the win.

In the girls’ championship, the Moose Jaw-based Hogeboom team battled Saskatoon’s Renee Wood and emerged with a 7-3 victory.

After Hogeboom went up 4-0 after two ends, Wood slowly cut into the lead to trail 4-3 after five. However, Hogeboom then scored three singles in a row in final ends to win the event.

All four teams who were in the finals will compete in the national championships scheduled for Feb. 16-22 in Saskatoon at the Nutana Curling Club.

The champion teams will represent Saskatchewan at the event, while the two runner-up teams will compete as the host teams.
