Welcoming a new year means reflection, anticipation, and most often, celebration for many people across the country. Forget your past regrets and start the new year the right way: with a loud, raucous party, eating fine food, enjoying family time, or a romantic getaway while watching fireworks.

Like every year, Dubai will not fail to witness the enthusiasm of the special occasion which bids a final adieu to 2024 as it welcomes 2025. But you don’t want to be stuck on the road, do you? Hussain Al Bana, the executive director of traffic at the RTA, warns residents and tourists heading to Downtown Dubai to stay alert about the timings when major roads won’t be functional.

It is advised for people to arrive before time and also carefully plan their schedule to leave within the time that major roads stay functional. Sheikh Zayed Road, a major route in Dubai, will close from 4 pm onwards on December 31. And some other routes to not stay functional are:

  • Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed from 4pm
  • Financial Centre St’s Lower Deck will be closed from 4pm
  • Al Mustaqbal St will be closed from 4pm
  • Burj Khalifa St will be closed from 4pm
  • Al Asayel Road (from Oud Metha Road to Burj Khalifa) will be closed from 4pm
  • Al Sukuk St will be closed from 8pm
  • Upper level of the Financial Road will be closed from 8pm

So, plan your outings carefully.
