Montanier chose his hometown to record his debut comedy album before a live audience over three nights — Dec. 12 to 14.

“I’ve been touring around the area, about like a five- to eight-hour radius, for quite a while, for about like 10 years or so, and yeah, I’m at that point where I’m gonna be recording an album and I decided to record it in Windsor,” said Montanier.

“That’s because it’s something that we haven’t really done before.”

The 34-year-old co-founder and senior producer of the Brewing for Comedy Festival, Windsor Comedy Club and Brewing for Comedy, said his act focuses on his life and personal experiences, his 10 years working at a pharmacy, customer service, religion and the pandemic.

Comedy came easily to Montanier who said he’s always been a good conversationalist.

“My parents were telling me, like they thought I was gonna be a lawyer, because I would … argue with them a lot,” he said. “They would be, like, almost laughing.

“You’re arguing with like, an eight-year-old or a nine-year-old (whose) … really exaggerating the point.”

Montanier told the Star he jumped into comedy “with both feet,” working the door at a comedy club for five years and grabbing every stage opportunity he could. Extensive travel to clubs and festivals in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Toronto followed until the pandemic hit.

“(Then) I decided to open up the comedy club with a few of the people that we’ve been producing with, and we started a festival,” he said.

The album recordings will take place at the Windsor Comedy Club, located inside Craft Heads Brewing Company on University Avenue West.

With the club’s imminent move to Erie Street, Montanier wanted to record his album during the last couple of weeks at the downtown location.

He said the venue’s intimate setup offers a unique, interactive comedy experience that will ensure every laugh and reaction is captured.

Montanier said he plans to submit the recordings to some record labels with the hope they will pick it up. If that doesn’t work out, he’ll release it independently and hope Sirius XM radio and Just for Laughs pick it up.

Doors open at 8 p.m., showtimes are 8:30 p.m.
