Dozens of residents turned out on a chilly night for the tree lighting and to explore the new gathering place park.
“This will be Comber’s newest outdoor space that will serve as a place to connect residents to each other, to celebrate this unique community and to help tell the story of Comber as the municipality continues to grow,” said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey.

Earlier this year the town unveiled improvements to the cenotaph and war memorial, and new sidewalks.
“These projects would not have been possible without the support from the Hydro One community support agreement, which was approved by council in 2023,” said Bailey.
The $8-million agreement with Hydro One is intended to help the municipality invest in community upgrades in the region to compensate for the power lines, which were projected to have an impact on residents during construction and were set to intrude into lands identified for economic development in Lakeshore.
Meanwhile, Larissa Vogler, councillor for Ward 6, which includes Comber, said there is more to come.
“We have more parks coming, trails and pollinator gardens,” said Vogler. “We’re going to have Main Street enhancements and beautification as well as some new signage, and that’s just in the coming months. There’s so much more to come as we move into the next phases with these upcoming community benefits.”
