The dangerously cold weather in Saskatoon this week is believed to be responsible for the death of a 19-year-old woman, city police say.
Officers responded on Monday shortly before 6 p.m. to a report of a woman lying in a park in the 300 block of Pendygrasse Road, police said in a news release on Monday.
Upon arriving at the scene in the Fairhaven neighbourhood, they found her deceased.

The provincial coroner is investigating, police added.
“We believe the death to be weather-related; however, that determination is officially made by the coroner’s office,” a police spokeswoman said in an email.
Foul play is not believed to be a factor, police said.
At the time officers responded to the scene, the temperature in the city was -28 C with a windchill of -39 C. An extreme cold weather alert from Environment Canada was in effect at the time.
