Coldplay is unarguably one of the biggest bands in the world. The four-member Rock band, including Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion, is currently making headlines because of the upcoming world tour and tenth studio album. For the uninitiated, their new album titled ‘Moon Music‘ is set to release on October 4, 2024.

Ahead of the album’s release, Chris sat down for a candid interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. The singer announced that the band’s twelfth album will be its ‘last’. Yes, you’ve read it right.

Chris said, “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Yeah, I promise. Because less is more and, for some of our critics, even less would be even more.” When asked why the band decided to keep that limit, he responded that it’s really important because everything would eventually run its course.

The singer further gave examples of Harry Potter and The Beatles, saying there are only seven films in the franchise and only 12-and-a-half albums from the band. And the same goes for Bob Marley. “To make an album great as a band, it’s such a lot of wrangling of people, and I want to give the others some of their lives for themselves,” added Martin.

Reacting to the shocking news, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared their thoughts.

After the release of ‘Moon Music‘, Coldplay will be busy with their tour. The band is set to bring their ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour‘ to Abu Dhabi in 2025. Coldplay will be performing on January 9, 11, 12, and 14 at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.
