BTS leader RM aka Kim Namjoon’s new documentary ‘Right People, Wrong Place’ is now playing in selected theatres near you. The project chronicles his second solo album, released in May 2024, several months after RM’s enlistment in the military. Now, in a recent Q&A session with People, the K-pop idol reflected on how his album was all about staying true to himself.

“There have been many aspects of my life where I couldn’t be honest. And when I express these causes, I’m not sure how my fans or people outside will think about it, but I just wanted to share my story. I want to fully express my story… and I wish to be more of my true self,” he said. RM also highlighted BTS’ statement about self-love and acceptance relies heavily on loving oneself, “But eventually, to love yourself, you must be the most honest with yourself to hold that key,” he added.

Though the members of the K-pop supergroup are focusing on solo projects, the thought of reunion often appears in RM’s mind. He believes the solo experiences of all seven members can only be a boon for their future. “I believe that the experience of being able to be completely free and honest will have a good influence on our team when BTS transitions to the next chapter,” said RM adding, “I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I think I am driving in the right direction, and that those events are bound to have a good influence when we come back together.”

‘Right People, Wrong Place’ isn’t your ordinary album documentary. By the time the album was released, RM was in the military so the film doesn’t contain live performances of the completed songs but grasps the ups and downs that RM faced while creating his second solo outing.
