In February of this year, R&B prince Usher delivered an unforgettable performance at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show in Las Vegas. The singer was joined on stage by Alicia Keys. Much to our surprise, BTS’ Jungkook could have also been on stage with Usher. Yes, you’ve it right. Unfortunately, Jungkook rejected the offer.

According to Billboard, Usher had invited BTS’ youngest member to perform the remix of their song ‘Standing Next To You’ at the Super Bowl, but sadly, Jungkook turned it down due to his mandatory military service.

For the uninitiated, Jungkook enlisted in the military in December 2023. Usher’s Super Bowl performance took place in February 2024. The superstar singer began his performance by singing his 2004 hit ‘Caught Up‘, followed by ‘U Don’t Have To Call‘. Some of the other songs included ‘If I Ain’t Got You‘, ‘U Got It Bad‘, ‘Love in this Club‘, and ‘Confessions Part II‘.

Reacting to the news, an ARMY wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “This was a huge opportunity!!! We can only imagine how great he would have been on that stage.” Another fan commented, “What a missed opportunity.” “They know snty is a masterpiece,” wrote a fan. Another one wrote, “Jungkook impact is insane totally pop star. I really hope when jk came back he should perform solo in massive stage and shine brighter.”

Though Jungkook is in the military, he grabbed attention this year for multiple reasons. The BTS member’s documentary ‘Jungkook: I Am Still‘ was released worldwide in September. It followed Jungkook’s journey as he prepared for his solo debut album ‘Golden‘. The documentary featured behind-the-scenes footage and concert performances of the global superstar.

Jungkook will be discharged from the military in 2025.
