This year brought us every aspect of cinema, from drama, horror to action. While some films left us impressed, some failed miserably at it. Talking about the good releases, films like ‘Exhuma‘, ‘Wicked‘, and ‘Kill‘, gave the entertainment many of us needed. So, without any further ado, take a look at our list of this year’s best films.
‘Exhuma‘: South Korean blockbuster ‘Exhuma’ was one of this year’s best releases and there’s no denying that. The Jang Jae-hyun directorial includes mystery and horror. It follows the process of excavating an ominous grave, which unleashes dreadful consequences buried underneath. Starring Kim Go-eun and Lee Do-hyun as shamans taking down a demon, ‘Exhuma’ was an absolute treat.
‘Kill‘: ‘Kill’ was one of the films that left a mark on the audience and critics. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, ‘Kill’ follows the story of an Indian Army commando Amrit (Lakshya) who finds his love in Tulkia (Tanya Maniktala). However, things take a turn when the couple finds themselves trapped in a train taken over by Fani (Raghav Juyal) and his gang of dacoits, who begin the kill the passengers. While it all sounds simple, ‘Kill’ is a brilliant action crime thriller that you shouldn’t miss out on.
‘Dune: Part Two‘: Once again, Denis Villeneuve did not disappoint. ‘Dune: Part Two’, a sequel to the 2021 hit, follows Paul Atreides as he reunites with the Fremen people of the desert planet Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen. Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and the entire team delivered performances to remember. As many already know, major scenes for the sequel were shot in the UAE, making it such a visual treat.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘: Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman teamed up for Shawn Levy-directorial ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and it did not disappoint us. Apart from Reynolds and Jackman’s bromance, the film won hearts because of the surprising cameos by Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, Henry Cavill, and Wesley Snipes.
‘Heretic‘: The Scott Beck and Bryan Woods directorial revolves around two young missionaries who become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse when they knock on the door of the diabolical Mr Reed. Trapped in his home, they must turn to their faith if they want to make it out alive. The film stars Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East.
‘Moana 2‘: ‘Moana 2’ was one of the best films of this year and there’s absolutely no denying that. Directed by Dana Ledoux Miller, David Derrick Jr, and Jason Hand, part two reunites Moana and Maui three years later an expansive new vogaye alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.
‘The Wild Robot‘: The film follows Roz (Nyong’o), a service robot shipwrecked on an uninhabited island who must adapt to her surroundings, build relationships with the local wildlife, and becomes the adoptive mother of an orphaned goose, Brightbill. The Chris Sanders directorial will touch your heart.
‘Wicked‘: ‘Wicked’ starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Eviro as Elphaba did not disappoint. Set in the Land of Oz, before Dorothy Gale arrives from Kansas, it follows Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and her friendship with her classmate Galinda, who becomes Glinda the Good. The fun isn’t over as its second part titled ‘Wicked: For Good’ will be released in 2025. Are you excited? We bet you are.
