During the earnings call for the first fiscal quarter of 2025, Apple CEO Tim Cook was queried about the potential for form factor innovation in future iPhone models, particularly in light of speculation surrounding the anticipated “iPhone 17 Air.”
While Cook typically refrains from discussing forthcoming products during these calls, he offered an optimistic perspective. “I believe there is much more to come,” Cook stated.
When asked about the future of $AAPL‘ iPhone innovation over the next 2-3 years, Apple CEO Tim Cook responded:

“I am extremely optimistic about our product pipeline.” He further indicated that there is indeed potential for evolution within the iPhone lineup, asserting, “I think there is still a great deal of innovation left in the smartphone sector.”
Speculation suggests that Apple is developing an ultra-thin version of the iPhone to succeed the “Plus” model, with expectations that it will measure between 5mm and 6mm in thickness, making it the slimmest iPhone to date.
In a different inquiry, Cook was asked if the sleek design of the 12.9-inch M4 iPad Pro was contributing to iPad revenue growth. However, Cook clarified that this was not the case; instead, the iPad Air and the standard iPad were the primary drivers behind the 15 percent revenue increase observed in the iPad category during the holiday quarter.
This outcome is not surprising given the premium pricing of the iPad Pro. While there are varying opinions regarding the pricing of Apple’s ultra-thin iPhone, it is anticipated to be more affordable than the Pro models.
Apple is expected to prioritize design, equipping the device with a less powerful chip compared to the Pro models and a single-lens camera.
