Marvel Boss Kevin Feige in July announced they’re progressing with the draft for a fourth installment of the Spider-Man film. At the time, he confirmed the writers would deliver the script “relatively soon.” And it didn’t take long for the development to incite wild speculation on social media. Rumours swirling online majorly suggested Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would likely join Tom Holland once again in the upcoming film.
Although Garfield was quick to put an end to the speculation, the actor, 41, recently revealed he is open to wearing the Spider-Man suit again. But his decision comes with a condition. In an interview with Esquire, Garfield said, “I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.”
He added, “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.” Previously, the Spider-Man actor set the record straight by shutting down unwanted rumours during his interaction with Indie Wire at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of ‘We Live in Time’, Garfield’s upcoming movie with Florence Pugh.
“I mean, like the internet is a big place. I think there’s a lot of people who will just say anything to get clicks. So you might have been duped, I’m afraid,” he said referring to the speculation of his comeback with Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
Garfield is gearing up for the release of ‘We Live in Time’ directed by John Crowley. The plot of the film revolves around the life of an up-and-coming chef and a recent divorcée, who find their lives forever changed when a chance encounter brings them together, in a decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.
‘We Live in Time’ hits the theatres on January 1, 2025.
