Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday (April 7, 2025) directed government officials to amend the land assignment rules at the earliest.

The Chief Minister was addressing a high-level meeting organised to discuss the matter. Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan has been directed to discuss the amendments with the Advocate General and submit recommendations to the government. Land assigned for public use, land for private use and small-scale land conversion should be viewed separately, according to the Chief Minister.

Once the amended rules are in place, they are expected to provide a solution to the issues persisting in the hilly regions including Idukki, Mr. Vijayan’s office said.

Revenue Minister K. Rajan, Industries and Law Minister P. Rajeeve, Ms. Muraleedharan, Advocate General K. Gopalakrishna Kurup, Law secretary K.G. Sanal Kumar and Land Revenue Commissioner A. Kowsigan attended the meeting.
