A few years ago, Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan were set to star together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Inshallah‘. Fans were beyond excited to see them share screen space. Unfortunately, the film was shelved, and the fans were left disappointed. It wasn’t just the fans who were sad; the film’s leading lady, Alia Bhatt, was heartbroken, too.
In a recent interview, Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed that the actress cried and locked herself in a room. He told The Hollywood Reporter India, “She broke down, she cracked up, cried, raved, ranted, locked herself in the room.”
And one week later, Alia was offered to play the leading lady in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘. At first, the Bollywood diva was doubtful whether she could play the role or not. SLB recalled Alia telling him, “From LA where I was supposed to be playing the character, I have come to Kamathipura. How do I do? I don’t know this character.” SLB convinced her and she accepted the role. The rest, as they say, is history.
In 2023, Alia bagged the Best Actress National Film Award for her performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi‘.
Alia and SLB are set to reunite again for the upcoming movie ‘Love And War‘, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Besides this, the actress will be seen in ‘Jigra‘, co-starring Vedang Raina, which releases on October 11, 2024.
On the other hand, Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for ‘Sikandar‘. The AR Murugadoss’ directorial film will be released on Eid 2025. The actor also has filmmaker Atlee’s untitled film with Kamal Haasan. According to reports, he is also set to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan‘.
